Schick Blade Lines and Handle Compatibility
Schick cartridge refills fit handles from their own line and nothing else. Hydro cartridges mount on Hydro handles, Hydro Silk on Hydro Silk, Quattro on Quattro, and none of them cross to each other or to a Gillette handle.
The three lines that matter
Hydro is the current men’s flagship, five blades over a gel reservoir. Refill packaging states the cartridges fit all Hydro handles, and that has held across generations of the handle. Hydro Silk is the women’s counterpart, with the same fit-all-handles claim made specifically for Hydro Silk handles.
Quattro is the older four-blade format, sold in men’s and women’s mounts that are not interchangeable with each other either. It is also the line people most often buy the wrong refills for, because the packaging looks similar on a store shelf and the cartridges are not.
What does not fit
Hydro cartridges do not mount on Gillette Fusion handles, in either direction, since the attachment systems are entirely different. The Gillette side of that fence is mapped in our guide to Gillette blade compatibility. Schick and Wilkinson Sword are both Edgewell brands, so in Europe you will find the same hardware under the Wilkinson name.
Where Injector fits
Injector is shaving history rather than a live catalog line: a single blade pushed into the handle from a key magazine. No Hydro or Quattro cartridge will ever mount on an Injector handle, and if you inherit one, third parties still make blades for it. The format gets compared against double edge blades in our injector versus double edge breakdown.
Blade life and cost sense
Schick’s own FAQ estimates one refill lasts about a month with regular shaving, which matches how most modern cartridges wear. Buying refills in larger packs drops the per-cartridge cost sharply, and the women’s lines often run longer since legs see fewer passes per week than a face. For the women’s refill maze across brands, see which Venus handles still fit which refills, because the same line discipline applies there.
