Gillette Blades: Which Line Fits Which Handle

Two rules cover almost every Gillette cartridge sold today. Every 5-blade cartridge, Fusion5, ProGlide, ProShield and SkinGuard, fits every Gillette 5-blade handle, and every Mach3 cartridge fits every Mach3 handle. Nothing crosses between the two systems, and GilletteLabs is the exception that trips people up.

The Fusion mount, one size for four lines

Buy a Fusion5 handle and you can feed it any cartridge in the 5-blade family, including the budget Gillette5 line sold at warehouse clubs. Gillette’s own compatibility chart states this outright, so a ProShield refill on a plain Fusion5 handle is a normal, supported pairing. That flexibility is the family’s real advantage over closed subscription brands.

SkinGuard uses the same mount with blades spaced to cut less hair per pass, aimed at sensitive skin and shavers prone to bumps.

GilletteLabs, the dead-end handle

GilletteLabs cartridges do not interchange with the rest of the Fusion line despite the shared shelf space. Owning the handle locks you to one product line at premium pricing, with no fallback if refills get scarce. That lock-in is the strongest argument for choosing a standard Fusion5 handle instead.

Mach3, still its own three-blade system

Mach3 cartridges fit every Mach3 handle, Turbo and older variants included, and nothing else. The line costs less per cartridge than Fusion and outshaves most disposables, which is why it still sells decades after launch.
