Henson Shaving Razors Compared: AL13 vs Ti22, Mild vs Medium vs Aggressive

Henson shaving razors in black aluminum, steel blue and titanium standing on a slate shelf

Start with the Henson AL13 Mild at $89: it holds the blade 0.033 mm past the guard by Henson’s figures. Step up to Medium, or to the $300 Henson Ti22, only once your technique is steady. The Ti22 is the only Henson sold in Aggressive.

Henson makes two razors, the aluminum AL13 and the titanium Ti22, with one shared head design and three aggression levels. Metal, weight and blade gap are the only things that change.

Every spec and price below comes from Henson’s own FAQ and US store. The calculator under the table turns your shaving week into a yearly blade bill.

Henson razor stand

Dry between shaves

Henson razor stand
A machined aluminum stand that rests a Henson at a drying angle. Henson says a dry head is what keeps the blade from rusting.
Catch: Henson lists it at $29.99 and it changes nothing about the shave itself.

Henson AL13 vs Ti22: Which One Should You Buy?

Buy the AL13 unless you specifically want titanium or the Aggressive gap.

Henson says the two razors share one design, with only the metal and the aggression options differing. The AL13 is anodized aluminum at 1.3 oz for $89, and the Ti22 is bare Grade 5 titanium at 2.23 oz for $300.

That is $211 more for 0.93 oz of extra heft. Our Henson AL13 review covers how the lighter razor feels in the hand and why it suits most first-time safety razor users.

Henson Mild vs Medium vs Aggressive: Which Level Fits You?

Choose Mild unless you already shave with a safety razor and rarely get irritation.

Henson’s numbers: Mild has a 0.68 mm gap and 0.033 mm of exposure, Medium 0.85 mm and 0.058 mm, and Aggressive 0.99 mm and 0.115 mm. Aggressive exposes about 3.5 times the blade that Mild does.

Henson recommends Medium only for experienced shavers who do not struggle with irritation. Its FAQ describes the AL13 as a Mild razor, yet its store also lists an AL13 Medium at $89.

If tugging and nicks are what you want to fix, start with the Mild head. The logic in why the AL13 removes blade chatter applies to it first.

How Long Does a Henson Blade Last?

Henson recommends a fresh blade every 2 to 5 shaves.

Its FAQ puts double edge blades at around $0.10 each, and it says a 100 pack lasts a typical shaver 2 to 3 years. Put your own week into the calculator above to see where you land.

Where Can You Buy a Henson Razor?

Henson’s own store sells every version, and the Amazon AL13 listings read for this page are all marked Mild Aggression.

That means Medium and the Ti22 come from Henson directly, and the grid above covers what Amazon does carry.

What is the difference between the Henson AL13 and Ti22?

The design is the same. The AL13 is anodized aluminum at 1.3 oz and $89, while the Ti22 is Grade 5 titanium at 2.23 oz and $300, and it is the only Henson offered in Aggressive.

How do you tell Henson Mild, Medium and Aggressive apart?

Henson marks them with plus symbols: one for Mild, two for Medium, three for Aggressive. The symbols sit above the barcode on the box and are engraved inside the baseplate and top cap beside the lot number.
