Schick Hydro Silk: The Handle, the Blade Refills and Who It Is Built For

Schick Hydro Silk style five-blade women's razor on a shower ledge with refills

Schick Hydro Silk is a five-blade women’s razor system. The handle with two refills costs $8.97 at Walmart, and refills that fit any Hydro Silk handle run $2.83 to $3.37 each. Schick says a cartridge lasts up to 32 days at two shaves a week, so one 4-pack covers roughly four months.

Below is what the handle and refills cost, what the claims mean in shaves, and when a double edge blade makes more sense.

What you get in a Schick Hydro Silk handle and refill pack

The Walmart listing for the Ultra Sensitive razor describes five curve-sensing blades with skin guards and a soft-touch handle with a rubber grip. The pack holds one handle and two cartridges.

The Sensitive refill listing adds a Hydra-Boost serum with aloe, which Schick says provides moisture for up to 2 hours after shaving. The Moisture version lists a serum with shea butter and hyaluronic acid.

Prices are the Walmart listing figures read on 10 October 2026. The DE blade is the 5 October Amazon price from our cartridge versus DE blade cost table. The $2.99 per piece counts the handle as one piece.

The 6-pack saves 54 cents per cartridge over the 4-pack. If you plan to keep the handle for a year, buy it.

Which handle the refills fit

Hydro Silk refills fit Hydro Silk handles and nothing else. Walmart’s listing says “fits any Schick Hydro Silk handle”, and men’s Hydro cartridges do not cross over. Our Schick blade lines and handle compatibility guide lays out the three Schick mounts.

Check the line name on the pack before you buy. Hydro Silk, Hydro and Quattro look alike on a shelf.

Hydro Silk refill cost against a DE blade

At up to 32 days per cartridge, a year of shaving twice a week needs about 11 cartridges. That is roughly $32 to $38 at the $2.83 to $3.37 prices above, my arithmetic from Schick’s best-case figure.

Schick’s men’s Hydro Sensitive refills claim up to 18 shaves per cartridge. Hydro Silk’s 32 days at two shaves a week works out to about nine, so the women’s line wears out in roughly half the shaves, though the two claims use different test conditions.

A DE blade is $0.09 and our cost breakdown puts blade cost at 5 to 10 cents per shave. Switching costs you a learning curve. The safety razor versus cartridge razor comparison says whether it fits you.

Who Schick Hydro Silk is built for

Schick sells Hydro Silk as a women’s razor for body shaving, with blades that follow curves such as the knee. If you shave legs and underarms a couple of times a week and want a moisture strip, it fits. If you shave daily, plan on replacing cartridges more often than the 32-day figure.

Questions readers ask

Do Schick Hydro Silk refills fit any Hydro Silk handle?

Yes. The Walmart listing states the refills fit any Schick Hydro Silk handle. They do not fit men's Schick Hydro handles or Gillette handles, so check the line name on the pack before you order.

How long does a Schick Hydro Silk cartridge last?

Schick states up to 32 days based on shaving twice a week, which is about nine shaves. If you shave daily the cartridge will wear out sooner, and your skin and hair set the real number.

On the Walmart listing read on 10 October 2026, a 4-pack is $13.47 ($3.37 each) and a 6-pack is $16.97 ($2.83 each). A handle with two refills is $8.97. Prices change, so check the current listing.
